Why do we think they are a solo female-friendly company? We asked Shelly Glaizner from our solo community for her personal experience of the company…
I was backpacking around Europe on a budget and decided that whilst I was so close I should take the opportunity to see Turkey (being Australian and coming from a large island means that everywhere in Europe seems ‘close by’ to us). I decided a month before the tour was due to start that I wanted to go and booked the Travel Talk Essential Turkey 10 day tour.
I had a few must-see items on my list, such as the spectacular white silica terraces of Pamukkale, the enormous halls of the Grand Bazar in Istanbul, and the fairy chimneys at Göreme Valley. There were also some must-dos on my Turkey bucket list and a hot air balloon ride over the stunning landscape at Cappadocia had to be experienced during my trip.
Their Essential Turkey tour starts and ends in Istanbul and travels through Cappadocia, Konya, Pamukkale, Ephesus, Kusadasi, Troy, Canakkale, and Gallipoli, before returning to Istanbul.

What Are The Pros and Cons of Travel Talk?
I was drawn to Travel Talk straight away. They were one of the tour companies where their tour description was clear and descriptive, they ticked all the items on my must-see and do list and at $1365, it was one of the best value trips I could find.
If you’re wondering “Why is Travel Talk so cheap?” There is a local payment that isn’t part of the tour payment and is not meant to cover all entrance fees to the sites or act as spending money on the tour. This payment isn’t included in the tour price so it seems cheaper.
As the entry fees weren’t included for most sites, I hadn’t been prepared to bring any additional cash, so I found myself frequently looking for ATMs. As a positive, it was nice to see where your money was going. Tickets were bought at the gate in front of you, rather than through a third party.
They often have their Travel Talk 2 for 1 offer where you can bring a friend along for free. If you go solo, like I did, you save nearly half the cost (45%) instead.

Travel Talk Turkey – Was It Good Value?
The accommodation on the tour ranged from 4 to 5 star hotels, which I thought was great value for the tour price.
The buffet breakfasts and dinners provided were delicious. Because there was so much to see, sometimes we arrived late at night and left early in the morning so were unable to make the most of the hotel amenities, but the sights were amazing to see.
The hotel in Pamukkale was spectacular. The belly dance performance at the hotel’s poolside and the four-tiered thermal pool powered by hot springs created a memorable evening.

What Were The Benefits of Taking a Travel Talk Tour?
I enjoyed trying the local cuisine and appreciated our guides taking us to different places for lunch. I was able to try the local food and delicacies, from a shish kebab to Gozleme and Teste Kebab. I even had the opportunity to make a Turkish pizza called a ‘pide.’
Our local tour guide also happened to have spent his later years living in Australia. Being local meant that his knowledge of the country, its language and its culture were second to none.
This also meant that his English was fantastic. He always spoke loud enough for everyone to hear (a common issue in group tours), and was friendly, approachable and willing to help with any problems.
